Parkland is northern Broward County’s premier planned residential community. It sits at the western edge of the county near the Everglades Water Conservation Area, with a residential character dominated by gated communities, large lots, and newer construction. It’s one of Broward County’s younger cities, and the housing stock reflects it, with most construction postdating the post-Andrew code revisions. Even so, newer construction is not automatically storm-resistant, and the HVHZ applies throughout Broward County, including Parkland. Awning Stars installs hurricane screens throughout Parkland.
What Makes Parkland Installations Specific
Large, newer homes with expansive outdoor living spaces. Parkland’s housing tends toward larger footprints with outdoor kitchens, extended covered lanais, and pool areas. These are the openings where hurricane screens provide the most dramatic protection. A well-specified motorized system means everything on the rear of the home closes with one button push.
Gated community HOA governance. Virtually all of Parkland’s residential neighborhoods are HOA-governed, and architectural review requirements are strictly applied. We work with the architectural review process and provide the documentation packages that Parkland’s HOAs typically require. Both Atlas Armor and Progressive Screens are available in finishes that meet most community standards.
Distance from the coast. Parkland is far enough west that some residents deprioritize storm protection. Broward County’s storm history argues against that. HVHZ designation is county-wide because the risk is county-wide. Call 954.626.8056 for a Parkland consultation.
